James Stobo CBE.

The Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders was saddened this morning to learn of the passing of James Stobo CBE.

Jim was a well known and well-respected breeder, who farmed at Fishwick and later stayed at Knapdene House, which many of you may know had great views to the Scotland-England border.  Jim prefix was “Tweedside” and his flock number BL88H.  He sold his Shearlings in Ring 1 at Kelso with John Swan & Sons, and regularly attained some of the highest averages and often many Top Prices.  He was also one of our “Life Members” and will be deeply missed.

As well as his involvement with the Border Leicester Society he held a number of other high-profile positions in Agriculture such as NFU President and many, many others.
