125 Anniversary Arrangements

Society of Border Leicester Sheep Breeders 125 Anniversary National Show

The National show is open to all members for MV & Non MV sheep, there are numerous classes for Males & Females.  With generous prize money of £500 for the Champion and good prize money throughout each class.  Young Handlers will also be accommodated.  There is a unique judging set up for this event.  COVID regulations to be followed this may mean wearing face masks throughout the event H&H will advise us on this aspect.

Please note entries close on 23rd July any entries received after that day may be in order but will not appear in the Show Catalogue.  We will have an area for the sale of Merchandise as well as collection of pre ordered items.

There are NO entry fees, judging commences at 12 noon and for those coming from a distance there will be overnight lairage facilities.  Contact Secretary for more information.

Judges We are pleased to advise the Championhip will be co-judged wy John Evans (Halton) & J A Clark Stewart (Kininmonth) Males will be judged by Coote Geelan (Loughrinn) & Isobel Duncan (Knowehead), the Female will be judged by Gill Watkins (Millend) & Olwen Hughes-Owen ( Cyefin), groups will be judged by sisters Jan Howelll (Jameson) & Carol Evans (Franklane) Mrs Anna Johnson (Corriecravie) will judge the Young Handlers

The Prize Money has been set at £500 for Champion £250 for female Champion & £125 for reserve Female with £250 for Male and £125 for Reserve.  Individual Class Prizes are 1st £50, 2nd £40. 3rd £30, 4th £20, 5th £10

Prizes for Young Handlers are as Follows Champion will receive £200 in the form of Vouchers to be spent at Society Sales or in Exhange for Society Merchandise Reserve Champion will receive £100 worth of vouchers in addition each Young Handler will receive £50 of vouchers as "Appearance Money"

125 Draw

Next up we have unique draw to win a top quality specially selected Gimmer.  The Gimmer is valued at £2000 by an independent valuer and is a great opportunity to win a sheep to add to your own breeding lines as well as a potential show winner at the shows you attend.  There will be several other prizes but if you win one of these prizes your ticket will go back into the draw in order that you retain the opportunity to win the Gimmer.  The draw is run under the rules of the gaming commission.   Tickets are priced at £35 each there is no limit to the number of tickets you may purchase.  The draw will take place at the dinner in the evening contact Secretary to purchase tickets.

125 Dinner

Finally, to round the day off in style we are having a Dinner in The Auctioneer within the Market premises.  This will be a set three-course meal with coffee.  Numbers may be limited once again due to covid restrictions.   Dinner is 7.00 for 7.30pm.  Meals are priced at £30 per head with Children at £15.     There will be a vegetarian option and the restaurant can cater for any other dietary requirements.  There will be an adult price and a children’s menu available for those aged 3 to 10 years.  Contact Secretary for more information
